It appears that producer and daughter of superstar Rajnikanth, Soundarya’s financial woes are far from over.
Popular English daily ‘Economic Times’ has reportedly carried a news item in which says that Anil Ambani’s Reliance Media Works has filed a case against the superstars daughter asking her to refund a sum of Rs.11.59 crores, reportedly taken by Soundarya’s Ocher Studios during the making of the animation film ‘Sultan: The Warrior’ a couple of years ago.
The deal between Soundarya and Reliance, struck in 2008, stipulated that the film would release in 2009 but the film hasn’t seen the light of the day. This forced Reliance to back out of the production responsibilities of the film and has now filed a case against Soundarya at the High Court of Madras seeking to ‘restrain’ Soundarya from going ahead and releasing the film in June this year “without settling their dues” along with 12% interest.
When queried about this, Latha Rajnikanth, wife of the superstar who runs Ocher Studios, refused that any case has been filed against her daughter and said that talks are on with Reliance and that the matter would be sorted out in a smooth manner.
The case, meanwhile, is said to be scheduled for hearing on 29th March.
